Hurricane Florence - Evacuations and Shelters

Mandatory evacuations are in effect for Ocean Isle Beach as well as all un-incorporated areas located within Brunswick County.  As of 2:00 PM this afternoon the  following shelters are operational in Brunswick County and are pet friendly.


                        West Brunswick High School                  550 Whiteville Rd NW, Shallotte, NC 

                        North Brunswick High School                 114 Scorpion Drive NE Leland, NC

                        South Brunswick High School                 280 Cougar Road, Southport, NC


If you or anyone you know needs assistance with transportation to one of these shelters, please contact Brunswick County EOC at 910-253-5383. 


It is anticipated that we will begin to experience tropical storm force winds as early as Thursday morning which will become Hurricane force around 6:00 AM on Friday morning with landfall of the hurricane projected at this time for 9:00 AM on Friday. 


IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO STAY INFORMED regarding this hurricane because projected landfall could change over the next 24-48 hour period. 


Again, the Town of Ocean Isle Beach has declared a MANDATORY EVACUATION and all visitors are required to leave the island by Tuesday, September 11 at 5:00 and Property Owners/Residents by Wednesday, September 12 at 5:00 PM.  Once mandatory evacuation is completed Water Service to the island will be turned off.
