...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...
 
* Rip Current Risk...High for all beaches of Brunswick County from
  Bald Head Island to Sunset Beach.
 
* Surf Height...3 ft to occasionally 5 ft.
 
* Timing and Tides...The worse Rip current conditions will occur
  with in a 3 to 4 hour window centered at low tide which occurs
  around 2:40 PM.
 
* Other Hazards...Strong longshore current is expected due to
  increasing easterly winds at 15 to 25 mph.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
 
A Beach Hazards Statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents, longshore currents, and other hazards create life-
threatening conditions in the surf zone. Caution should be used when
in or near the water.
 
There is a high risk of rip currents. Life threatening rip currents
are likely in the surf zone.
 
Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties

and piers
